Centering. And how to center yourself again.
And how to centre yourself again.
How often do you feel disarrayed, disorganized, have scattered thoughts, and do not have a sense of the self, or to put more simplistically, felt lost?
It happens more than it should. We live in a time where too much is happening, and between everything, we like to keep ourselves busy. And this can throw us off balance being in the excess, in the too much’s.
Our minds are forever running. We either are constantly thinking, or we keep ourselves busy doing anything that we think is important. This is where we lose most of our energy and can lose touch with the self.
Primarily, when we are too much focused (consciously and subconsciously) on the impossible, the negatives, the fears and the challenges in life, and living emotions that are fearful to us, such as beings anxious, nervous and being fearful in general or anything that causes breaking off our union with our absolute, essential self is and can be called de-centring of the self.
How exactly do we know we have been decentered?
When you feel you are being pulled in many directions, when you feel dissociative, when you feel you’ve lost touch with yourself and when you realize you need to stop being mindful of the outside circumstances and start paying attention to what’s happening inside you, you’d know you’re decentered.
While we are decentered, we become a self that’s untruthful and unreal.
This false self can project out of the non-positive thought processes, lived experiences and the challenges we are facing in the present moment and can have us believe like we are living with the original self. Living with this false self can be terrifying and not only affects us mentally but can physically too.
This is exactly where centring is needed. So that the reestablishment of the real, the original self, can happen.
Centring is gathering our energy back to ourselves and making us self-aware of the potential we carry within us, and owning ourselves and your energy back again. Choosing to let go of uncontrollable self and replanting the sorted self.
Centring is nothing but a process of assembling the self again. It is a process of calling yourself/ your presence back to yourself. It is a practice of growing self-awareness and owning your energy back again.
Why is centring needed?
While you centre yourself again, you energetically shed off anything that doesn’t belong to you. It is a process of absorbing back all the scattered good energy and drawing out all unrequired.
But, how could you ever know what’s essential for you and what’s not? Having the sense of selection between anything which is good or bad for you is needed.
It could be identified with a little exercise.
Rethink about all those times when you’ve felt unfocused, disorganized within your mind, or have had scattered thoughts, or been confused or had a confusing cloud-like formation of disarrayed thoughts has been the reason for being not centred.
Centring can stimulate focus, creativity and strengthen your organizational abilities.
How to centre yourself? Or the techniques that will help you to re-centre yourself.
There are many techniques or practices you can perform to regain balance.
Here I’ve discussed two, one being breathing practice and the second visualizing.
*With breathing:
you have to allow yourself to return to the centre and as you breathe (you can choose the count you’re comfortable with) and call back the good energy and your original self-back to you.
-with the first breath, you inhale, empty your mind.
With second, let go of the stiffness, relax your body and muscles.
With third, let go of conflicts that had you constantly thinking.
With your next breath, choose anything you want to give up. And if you do not have the list or if you find it difficult enlisting, you can say:
“ as I breathe out, I let go of everything that’s doesn’t serve me, I let go of all the energy that makes me unbalanced, I let go of anything that doesn’t work for me. Etc.”
*With visualizing:
- as you’re breathing, imagine the bad, non-required energy that leaves your body and your body field. Anything, it could be an emotion such as fear, nervousness, any disturbance in mind and body, visualize it dispersing out of your centre, your presence and gradually leaving your body field.
Once you have emptied yourself of the above, visualize your energies and pulling them back together to their original place as they have been scattered. Centre them in the heart or in mind to draw your energy back to yourself while building a positive state of being.
Centring can be done anytime you feel scattered or out of balance.
Things to know before you try and re-centre yourself.
- Center where you feel most grounded.
-You can choose to centre yourself in the heart or the mind (the head). If you’ve been feeling burdened and have unbalanced emotions, choose to reestablish yourself in the heart.
If you’re feeling out of control, less confident, or centring yourself on gaining more power, it is advisable to centre yourself in the head. Centring in the crown benefits crown chakra, and centring in the heart benefits the heart charka.
